Sustainability by Caimi

Caimi, which has always been sensitive to environmental issues and eco-sustainability, uses recycled, recyclable or reusable materials wherever technically possible. In a perspective of continuous research, there is, for example, the use of Econyl regenerated yarns, for the creation of the first sound-absorbing fabric made with this innovative material. Production consists mainly of single-material, easily recyclable objects: objects made of multiple materials are in most cases designed to be disassembled. This allows separate recycling of the individual components. Snowsound Technology, Snowsound Fiber fabrics and Snowall products have received Greenguard Gold certification, indicating that they are low emitting products and do contribute to improve indoor air quality. Approximately 90% of Caimi products are processed within a 30 km radius from our central plant, where our logistics centre is located. This set up significantly reduces product transportation travel, thereby decreasing fuel consumption of the vehicles.

CONSCIOUS DESIGN

Conscious design implies achieving sustainability in every process, from the initial idea to the product’s end of life, carefully considering social, environmental and ethical impact. As early as 2003, the ADI Design Index selected a line of Caimi products with reused plastic materials. Over time, this and other experiences have built up a wealth of skills useful for achieving sustainability goals.

PERFORMANCE, QUALITY AND MULTIFUNCTIONALITY REDUCE RAW MATERIAL CONSUMPTION

The high performance of Snowsound patented technologies allows for optimal acoustic comfort with reduced quantities of sound absorbing material, compared to traditional products. The reduced material used has a positive impact on environmental sustainability, costs and installation time. Similarly, high quality ensures product durability over time. Objects such as curtains, sofas, lighting fixtures and room partitions have been reinvented to accommodate Snowsound sound-absorbing technologies, fulfilling several functions at the same time.

SINGLE-MATERIAL, VERSATILITY AND CIRCULAR ECONOMY

Production is mainly composed of single-material objects, which guarantee easy recyclability, while objects composed of several materials can be disassembled, allowing the individual parts to be recycled separately. Caimi’s modular systems are also reconfigurable and individual components can be replaced in order to adapt to the changing needs of the environments they are placed in.

CERTIFICATIONS

Caimi has always guaranteed the quality, durability and performance of its solutions through strict controls, both mandatory and voluntary. Examples of this are the multitude of CAM (Minimum Environmental Criteria) products, Greenguard Gold certification (to protect air quality in enclosed spaces through VOC testing) and the contribution to the LEED v4 rating system. The company is also FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified and a member of GBC (Green Building Council Italia).

KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT

Knowledge sharing and scientific diffusion are fundamental pillars for corporate sustainability, as they foster the development of shared knowledge and the dissemination of innovative solutions. Caimi has been carrying out continuous educational activities for years, articulated in courses, workshops and seminars, in collaboration with important universities in Italy and abroad; devoting particular attention to the training of professionals through courses, also organised with training credits and in collaboration with professional associations.

ECOLOGY IN COMMUNICATION

The upgrading of the website www.caimi.com has significantly decreased the need for printed paper and also, for many years, our catalogues have been printed on paper bearing the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) brand, that identifies products containing wood from forests manged correctly and with respect to stringent environmental, social and ecological standards.
